About Us
Insight Health Services (IHS) primarily produces and assists in the distribution of the CD's and DVD's that Drs. Ian and Ruth Gawler create. As well as this, it sponsors and supports the public talks and workshops that Ian hosts around Australia. While Ian and Ruth have both worked at The Gawler Foundation (Ian retired in 2010 while Ruth continues to be employed there as a therapist), The Gawler Foundation is a separate non-for-profit charity that manages the residential and non-residential programs related to healing and wellbeing based on the principles that Ian and other staff members evolved. IHS has worked with a number of organisations in bringing their services to the community. In the past, IHS has offered the 'Meditation by the Beach' and 'Meditation in the Desert' retreats, which were organised and run in conjunction with Treksafe (Dr. Jamie Duff and Rejane Belanger). The Relaxation Centre of Queensland has been hosting annual talk from Ian for the last decade and we believe the centre is a great organisation that has helped thousands of people over many years to find inner peace and happiness. The Cancer Support Association of Western Australia has provided wonderful services to people diagnosed with cancer in Perth and in conjunction with The Brady Foundation, and Ross Taylor they have been involved in bringing IHS work to Perth.
Our understandings are strongly aligned with the work of Professor George Jelinek in the field of Multiple Sclerosis, and we recognise him as a courageous pioneer and dedicated physician. We would like to see all people in the world diagnosed with MS given access to the information that Professor Jelinek has gathered through meticulous research and interest in this field. This information is taught at his MS programs, some of which are held through The Gawler Foundation.
IHS also supports the work of Spiritgrow in Caulfield, Melbourne (www.spiritgrow.org) and the work of of Rabbi Laibl Wolf - bringing sound health principles into traditional Judaism.
IHS also endorses East West Wisdoms, an online community about sharing and developing ideas on healing and spiritual growth, drawing together Western and Eastern wisdoms relating to the mind, particularly drawing on Buddhist philosophy.
Ian and Ruth have been longterm students of well known Buddhist meditation teacher Sogyal Rinpoche. The organisation of his students called Rigpa, www.rigpa.org, in Australia helps to support IHS. Ian and Ruth consider Sogyal Rinpoche as their main teacher and they support his work.
